The 23-storey apartment block on Leman Street set out to make Locke a design-led building for people who wanted to challenge the status quo. It was initially thought that the only route to those high-end ideas was traditional onsite labour.
Leman Street instead requested a high-end bathroom pod design to complement its approach. Walker Modular's hot welded steel framed bathroom pod solution fitted the development, with bespoke design, sanitaryware sourced from around the world and bespoke furniture.
A team of four specialists was assigned to the project, covering product design, technical development, project and service management. The frames were manufactured and Walker Modular began supplying bathroom pods in 2015 at a rate of 30 per week, delivering all 151 pods on time and in full.
