The engineering case

Designed for zero
leak paths.

Traditional tiled pods rely on tile joints, sealants and wall-panel silicone to manage water. The GRP system removes those interfaces from the design entirely.

100% waterproof

Seamless construction eliminates leak paths and moisture ingress.

One-piece strength

Integral floor and wall structure for superior rigidity and impact resistance.

Premium finish

High-gloss gel-coat surface, easy to clean and built to last.

Faster installation

Factory-built pod reduces on-site labour and shortens programme.

Hygienic surface

Smooth, non-porous gel-coat resists bacteria and supports easy maintenance.

Long service life

Designed to perform across the full lifecycle of the building.

FAQ

GRP pods, answered.

What is a GRP bathroom pod?
GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) is a composite material moulded into a single, seamless bathroom shell. The Walker GRP pod combines floor, walls and upstands into one continuous structure, with services pre-installed and tested in the factory.
How is a seamless GRP pod different from a flat-pack pod?
Not every pod is created equal. Flat-pack pods are produced in up to eight separate parts and rely on up to 30 metres of silicone to seal the joints between panels. Those joints will eventually fail — it is a case of when, not if. A Walker GRP pod is moulded as one continuous shell, so the leak paths simply do not exist.
Why is seamless GRP better at preventing leaks?
Preassembled flat-pack panel bathrooms rely on silicone seals and joints between panels to prevent water escape. Those joints will fail over time — it is just a matter of when. A Walker seamless GRP pod has no joints, no seams and no silicone-dependent panels — the water cannot escape, so the pod will never fail.
What sectors are GRP pods used in?
Student accommodation, hotels, Build to Rent, PRS, healthcare and residential schemes where leak risk, programme certainty and long-term performance matter.
How is the pod delivered to site?
Fully fitted, fully tested, and craned into position from a delivery vehicle. Connections to incoming services are made on site by the contractor.
Can the interior be specified to brand standards?
Yes — fixtures, fittings, lighting and accessories are specified to project requirements. The GRP shell defines the structure; the interior specification is flexible.
