Walker Modular bathroom pods for the Moberly Building, University of Exeter

The Moberly Building provides purpose-built student accommodation for the University of Exeter, delivered within the university's established estate.

Walker Modular supplied factory-manufactured bathroom pods for the scheme. Each bathroom was manufactured, fitted out and quality assured within the factory before delivery to site as a complete unit.

University accommodation is built to a repeating room layout, and the bathroom is the most services-intensive element of that room. Manufacturing it under controlled factory conditions gives every bedroom the same bathroom, built and tested to the same standard.

Working within a live campus meant delivery windows, noise and site traffic all had to be managed carefully. Removing the bathroom wet trades from site reduced disruption to the surrounding estate during construction.

Each pod carried a digital quality record, giving the university individual pod traceability and quality assurance documentation for the life of the building.
